CENTRO STUDI ITALIANI, the Italian language school in Urbania

The first school of Italian language and culture for international students between Tuscany and the Adriatic coast

Welcome to the Centro Studi
Italiani, the first school of Italian
language and culture for
international students in the
Marche, founded by Carlo_
Amedeo_Pasotto
in 1986. Since
then students from over 120
countries throughout the world have
attended the school.
Urbania is a charming town, rich in
art and history
, friendly and safe,
where everyone speaks Italian and
it is easy to make friends with the
locals and practise the language
;
an alternative to big towns that are
invaded by mass tourism.
Furthermore the territory, between
Tuscany and the Adriatic sea, is
one of the most beautiful and best
preserved in Italy: mountains, sea,
hills, and near to the famous art
cities of Central Italy
.
Our courses in Italian language and
culture are unique in their kind. Our
standard intensive course is 25
hours per week (and not 20, which
is normally considered intensive),
with a rich and varied programme
including conversation and
cultural subjects (included in
course fees)
. We also offer a varied
programme of special courses,
including arts and handicrafts and
traditional Italian cooking
.

Who we are (accreditations)

The CENTRO STUDI ITALIANI, International university hub, is not an Italian university. It is an “International university hub” insofar as foreign universities can hold courses at the  Centro Studi Italiani, and also the courses in Italian language and culture for International students at the Centro Studi Italiani are recognized and accredited by foreign universities. Our school – the first centre of Italian language and culture in the Marche and along the entire Adriatic coast – started its first courses in 1986, with their original structure that still makes the courses unique in their kind.

The Centro Studi Italiani has special agreements with 7 universities: Ancona, Camerino, Chieti-Pescara, Ferrara, Milano-Bicocca, Urbino and the University of Italian Switzerland. It is an educational institution accredited by the Marche Region  (D.G.R. n. 62 del 17/01/2001 D.G.R. n. 2164 del 18/9/2001). Furthermore, the Centro Studi Italiani has a  “Presa d'atto” and is under the patronage of the Marche Region and, as a Festival (Centro Studi Italiani Opera Festival), is under the patronage of the Ministero dei Beni e Attività Culturali and the Province of Pesaro and Urbino.

Since its foundation, the Centro Studi Italian ihas been included in the  "Corsi di lingua e cultura italiana per stranieri in Italia" magazine, published annually during the 1990s, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Centro studi Italiani is also an authorized centre where students who have been awarded scholarships by the Italian government, can attend the course in Italian language and culture of their choice.

The Centro Studi Italiani  is an examination centre for the exams of Italian as a second language of the Università per Stranieri di Perugia (CELI e CIC) and is a member of the "Accademia Italiana di Lingua" (A.I.L.) in Florence, an International association of Italian language and culture schools for foreigners and is examination centre for the “Diploma Firenze”  exams (DELI, DILI, DALI, DALC).

Since the very beginning the Centro Studi Italianai has been an educational centre for both Italians and foreigners Its students have come from over 100 countries and from all continents. 70% of the studentws who enrol in our courses  of Italian language and culture come because the school has been recommended to them by ex-course members. They appreciate not only the professionality but also the flexibility of the Centro Studi Italiani.

Thanks to the friendly atmosphere, not only at the school but with the local inhabitants, studentsGrazie ad un'atmosfera di cordialità e simpatia, nella scuola e nei rapporti con la popolazione locale, gli studenti learn Italian quickly and well. And they can immediately put it into use!
Our study programme can also be a support to the study programmes of foreign universities. This explains why the Centro Studi Italiani collaborates more and more with International programmes of important universities throughout the world.
