CENTRO STUDI ITALIANI, the Italian language school in Urbania

The first school of Italian language and culture for international students between Tuscany and the Adriatic coast

Welcome to the Centro Studi
Italiani, the first school of Italian
language and culture for
international students in the
Marche, founded by Carlo_
Amedeo_Pasotto
in 1986. Since
then students from over 120
countries throughout the world have
attended the school.
Urbania is a charming town, rich in
art and history
, friendly and safe,
where everyone speaks Italian and
it is easy to make friends with the
locals and practise the language
;
an alternative to big towns that are
invaded by mass tourism.
Furthermore the territory, between
Tuscany and the Adriatic sea, is
one of the most beautiful and best
preserved in Italy: mountains, sea,
hills, and near to the famous art
cities of Central Italy
.
Our courses in Italian language and
culture are unique in their kind. Our
standard intensive course is 25
hours per week (and not 20, which
is normally considered intensive),
with a rich and varied programme
including conversation and
cultural subjects (included in
course fees)
. We also offer a varied
programme of special courses,
including arts and handicrafts and
traditional Italian cooking
.

SEMESTER ABROAD
Optional courses in Arts

(6 hours weekly, 2 afternoons of 3 hours each)

The opportunity of integrating the study of the Italian language and culture with the theory and practice of figurative art or handicrafts is another original aspect of our courses, much appreciated by our students. This idea came from the favourable environmental conditions - rare even for Italy - in this homeland of Raphael and Bramante where art and handicrafts are still practised at the highest level. Attendance for one of these courses costs a monthly supplement of
€ 99, to be paid in advance at the beginning of the course together with the balance of the enrolment. The materials consumed during these courses and food for the cookery course must also be paid directly to your teacher at the end of your course. Minimum 5 participants per course.
Drawing and painting (water colours, tempera, fresco, etc)
Pottery
Traditional Italian cooking

Exams

At the end of their course students can be tested and examined, as we already do for other university programs. Students can also take the exam for the "Firenze" diplomas.

Housing

In order to let our students experience Italian life amidst the Italians, the school finds suitable accommodation for all students and offers them assistance throughout their stay. Students stay with host families.
