CENTRO STUDI ITALIANI, the Italian language school in UrbaniaThe first school of Italian language and culture for international students between Tuscany and the Adriatic coast |
||
|
Welcome to the Centro Studi
Italiani, the first school of Italian language and culture for international students in the Marche, founded by Carlo_ Amedeo_Pasotto in 1986. Since then students from over 120 countries throughout the world have attended the school. Urbania is a charming town, rich in art and history, friendly and safe, where everyone speaks Italian and it is easy to make friends with the locals and practise the language; an alternative to big towns that are invaded by mass tourism. Furthermore the territory, between Tuscany and the Adriatic sea, is one of the most beautiful and best preserved in Italy: mountains, sea, hills, and near to the famous art cities of Central Italy. Our courses in Italian language and culture are unique in their kind. Our standard intensive course is 25 hours per week (and not 20, which is normally considered intensive), with a rich and varied programme including conversation and cultural subjects (included in course fees). We also offer a varied programme of special courses, including arts and handicrafts and traditional Italian cooking. |
SEMESTER ABROAD IN URBANIA, ITALYSEMESTER ABROAD for students majoring or minoring
in Italian, or for those interested in enriching their academic curriculum with special focus on Italian studies; 600 hours
(25 hours per week) of Italian language, culture and conversation including:
HISTORY OF ITALY (24 HOURS); ITALIAN LITERATURE (32 HOURS); ART HISTORY (32 HOURS); ITALIAN INSTITUTIONS (28 HOURS) ECONOMIC GEOGRAPHY OF ITALY (12 HOURS). Italian subjects in English on request. Spring: 11th January - 1th May 2010 Many American Universities and university systems have summer, or longer, study campuses in Italy and some Italian Universities such as Perugia offer substantial programs for foreign students. American students can often take these studies for credit towards their degree. Many of these programs are excellent but they do suffer from the disadvantage that the non-Italian student group is large and the participants can be relatively isolated from direct experience of the realities and dynamics of Italian life and culture. It is for this reason that the Centro Studi Italiani has designed a course of study in Italian language, culture and craftsmanship that may well be of interest to American and Canadian students. Our program is made to order so we can give close tutorial attention to each person and we tailor our teaching of Italian to the specific opportunities and problems of learning from different backgrounds. We offer housing either with host families or in furnished apartments. Our aim is for our students to experience Italian life amidst the Italians. |
