PREPARATORY COURSES
for international students who will enrol in
 THEOLOGICAL FACULTIES
OF THE PONTIFICAL UNIVERSITIES
(6 April - 20 September 2008)

After 23 years’ experience teaching Italian to international students – especially to Seminarians, Priests and Religious – we have designed a preparatory Semester for those who will begin their theological studies but do not yet have the linguistic and cultural background needed to achieve the maximum benefit from their studies. We offer three different courses that can easily be adapted to meet individual needs:

1)  Linguistic semester:
Italian for international students (grammar, conversation and culture) 278 hrs
Ecclesiatical Latin 178 hrs
Biblical Greek 144 hrs
(Plus optional courses in History of Art, History of Christian Art or Introduction to Italian Literature, Italian Institutions)
Total 600 hrs,   € 3,540
(€ 590 per month)
 
2)  Linguistic-philosophical semester:
for international students who already know Latin but not Greek and do not have an academic background in Philosophy.
 
Italian for international students (grammar, conversation and culture) 300 hrs
Biblical Greek 150 hrs
Theoretical Philosophy 80 hrs
History of Philosophy 70 hrs
(Plus optional courses in History of Art, History of Christian Art, Introduction to Italian Literature, Italian Institutions)
Total 600 hrs,  € 3,540
(€ 590 per month)
 
3)  Preparatory term (1 July – 22 September 2008):
for international students who already know Latin and Greek and have some academic knowledge of Philosophy.
 
Italian for international students (grammar and conversation) 252 hrs
Culture 48 hrs
(introduction to History of Italy and Italian Literature, History of Art)
Total 300 hrs,  € 1,460
(20% discount included)

It is also possible to enrol for one or more

4-week courses

throughout the year (see course calendar). Students who are preparing for the Theological Faculties of the Pontifical Universities are entitled to a 20% discount on the Italian language and culture courses’ enrolment fee.

Housing

We offer 4 different housing options. Prices are calculated for 4 week periods, and should therefore be multiplied by 3 for the preparatory term and by 6 for a semester.
The school arranges housing for students and assists them during the course of their stay. By way of example we list some lodging options available in Urbania. Simply indicate with numbers 1, 2 and 3 your choices in order of preference and every effort will be made to accommodate your choice, according to the date of your application. Prices remain valid until 12-31-2008.

Our school in Urbania (located in the northeastern province of Pesaro and Urbino) offers a series of unique advantages:

  • Urbania is a pleasant, rural town: quiet and safe, rich in history and the arts. There is no mass tourism and visitors routinely find it easy to make friends and practise their Italian at all levels.

  • Courses in grammar, conversation and culture are offered at 8 levels; class sizes are small (6 – 12 persons); teaching programs can be adapted to individual needs.
