Marcello
Raffaele Motta, assistant to the direction and organization
coordinator of the Centre of Italian Studies Opera Festival. He
was born in Geneva on 1st February 1965. A teacher of mother
tongue French and Italian, an artistic educator and a painter, he
began his work at the centre of Italian Studies firstly as a
teacher of Italian to foreigners and since May 2002 he has worked
alongside Professor Pasotto in the organization of the various
activities of the Centre, and in particular the Festival. From his
native Geneva where he completed his high-school studies (he
achieved his Swiss school leaving certificate for languages and
also the Swiss and Italian certificate for art), he moved to
Urbino in 1984 where he frequents university studies at the
Academy of Fine Arts. In 1988 he achieved a degree in art with a
thesis on the 'History of Contemporary Art' under the direction of
maestros Andrea Nelli, Omar Galliani and Elio Marchigiani. In the
same year he won the competition for entrance to the University
Institute of Fine Arts of Paris and there he specialized in
Monumental Design and Engraving. He returned to Italy in 1989 and
continued his studies in French literature at Urbino University.
Consequently, he was called to teach French in Geneva. In 1991 he
left the Swiss city and headed for the Montefeltro countryside
(Pesaro and Urbino), where he now lives. He collaborates, as a
designer, with the educational services for Pesaro's municipal
museums and teaches artistic education at Pesaro's social services
centres.
A painter, designer and engraver registered in his capacity as
young creator in the SPAC (System for Contemporary Art) for the
Pesaro and Urbino province, Marcello Motta has been regularly
active in his profession since 1987. To summarize, his work
concentrates on the expansion of traditional oil painting
techniques and in a context open to all types of research.
